Perinatal Medical Group announced today that Dr. Philip Cheng has joined their private practice to further develop their team of Neonatologists, serving sick pre-term and full-term babies in the Central Valley.
Dr. Cheng graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA and then joined the UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program to complete his residency in Pediatrics. He went onto UC San Diego to complete his Fellowship in Neonatology where he served as Chief Fellow and was presented with the prestigious Pediatric Fellow of the Year award. Additionally, Dr. Cheng has completed specialized training in functional echocardiography, which will allow physicians to make rapid decisions about a baby’s circulatory system.
Dr. Krish Rajani, Founder of PMG says “Dr. Cheng will be a great asset to our team. His extensive training in Neonatology and functional echocardiography make him a welcomed addition to the PMG team. We are lucky to have such a well qualified physician returning to the Valley.”
Dr. Cheng’s primary area of research interest is non-invasive ventilation. He has conducted a study comparing non-invasive support to non-invasive NAVA in preterm infants, which was presented at the Pediatric Academic Society meeting in May 2014. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Association for Physician Leadership.
